Danfoss Heat Pump’s open new R&D centre

The Duke of Värmland H.R.H. Prince Carl Philip, County Governor Eva Eriksson and proprietor representative Anette Clausen cut the ribbon in Arvika, Sweden, today at the official opening of Europe’s most advanced centre for heat pump development. It is here that Danfoss Heat Pumps, a leading manufacturer in the global heat pump market, will be developing heat pumps to meet worldwide needs. Once all phases have been completed, a total of € 8 million will have been invested in the centre, which is already employing more than 40 engineers.
Covering an area of about 3000 square metres, this global R&D centre has been specially constructed to create high-tech, environmentally-friendly and effective energy solutions. Prince Carl Philip and the other guests were given a guided tour of the centre and a closer inspection of the climate room. It is here that Danfoss Heat Pumps can develop heat pumps which meet global demands and provide outstanding performance in all climates, from tropical to Arctic. It will also house an echo chamber and a hemi anechoic (semi-echo-free) sound testing chamber where the quietest heat pumps in the market will be developed. The new heat pumps will also prove their worth in long-term tests designed to guarantee a lifetime of durable performance.
“A great day for Danfoss Heat Pumps and indeed for Sweden’s entire energy technology development community. Danfoss’s investment is proof that our expertise is world-class and that it is about to become even sharper. As of today, we will be strengthening our position as leaders in this area of technological development,” says Managing Director of Danfoss Heat Pumps, Carsten L. Sørensen.

“It is an important step in our international expansion. Arvika has the skills and is the hotbed for driving the entire Danfoss Group forward with greater strength and global success. The European and global markets for heat pumps are just emerging and promise tremendous potential and growth.
The heat pumps we are developing here will contribute to a reduction in global warming,” says Nis Storgaard, Managing Director of Danfoss Heating Division.

Your comfort and enviromental protection - at the same time!

The surplus of carbon dioxide and other gases created through coal, oil and gas combustion contribute to the greenhouse effect. The result is that the earth's average temperature is rising. By choosing a heat pump solution which has renevable solar energy as the foundation you can contribute to a cleaner environment.
